Starting in July 2019, media reports began to appear about people, especially young people, being hospitalized with serious lung disease caused by vaping. In late August, 2019, the first death was reported related to lung disease from vaping. Now, several people nationwide have died from this lung disease. While the cause of this illness is under investigation by National Jewish Health and many other research organizations, it is not yet fully understood. While many of the cases might have been related to adding Vitamin E to vaping liquids, some people who became ill for still unknown reasons. The CDC recommends:
